Event Information

This is a 270 mile endurance paddle to raise awareness of veteran and first responder suicide

  • We will paddle out of South Haven, MI to Alden Depot Park & Museum in Alden, MI
  • We will kick off at 5:30AM with prayer and the national anthem Performed by Erika Rose, an Army Veteran
  • We will paddle out of South Haven at 6:00AM on the 13th of July
  • You can paddle 1 mile or the whole 270 miles
  • We strive to create a strong culture – one of support, encouragement, and inclusiveness
  • A steady pace of 3.2 MPH or faster will need to be maintained in order to complete all 270 miles in time
  • We are one team, therefore, we will all paddle in the same division regardless of age, sex, board, boat etc…
  • Each day will be broken into 6-hour sections
  • The course goes along the beautiful shoreline of Lake Michigan
  • Leash and PFD required and enforced
  • Transportation, food, and lodging are not provided

  • DAY 2 (Approximately 48 miles)
    • Grand Haven (Wet Mitten Surf Shop) to Silver Lake State Park
  • DAY 3 (Approximately 48 miles)
    • Silver Lake State Park to Manistee State Park
  • DAY 4 (Approximately 44 miles)
    • Manistee State Park to Empire 
  • DAY 5 (Approximately 43 miles)
    • Empire to Leelanau State Park
  • DAY 6 (Approximately 40 miles)
    • Leelanau State Park to Alden Depot Park & Museum

IF YOU DO NOT PRE-REGISTER, make sure you SHOW UP EARLY enough to register prior to our 6AM start time. If you would like to join us mid paddle, we will have a GPS tracker on board. You will be able to track us in real time from the Event Day Live page. We just ask that you register before paddling out.

  • 4THE22 is providing Stand Up Paddle lessons
  • All ages welcome
  • Each lesson is 45 minutes
  • Lessons start each hour on the hour
  • Availability is from 12 PM to 7 PM July 5th, 6th, and 7th, with the final lesson ending at 8 PM

Cost

Suggested donation of $30 with 100% of the proceeds given to 4THE22.

To sign up for a lesson, come to our booth and speak with a team leader. Each time slot has 10 boards available first come first serve. A waiver is required for all participants.

Event Information

THIS EVENT IS WEATHER DEPENDENT

  • We will meet at Van Buren State Park at 2:00PM for race signups and the race brief.
  • The Direction and start time of the race will be chosen on the morning of the race to optimize the conditions for a fast, fun, challenging race. 
  • This will be a modified downwind course. With the option of a buoy course hinging on conditions. 
  • Race will start between 3:00PM and 5:00PM weather dependent
  • Race length will be 5 miles
  • Water Start
  • Course along the shoreline of Lake Michigan
  • Leash and PFD (personal flotation device) required and enforced
  • Recreational passport is required. You can purchase one for $16 for the whole year to be used at any state park.
